Big News for UK-Bound Students!
If you’re a Nepali student (or any international student) planning to study in the UK after mid-July 2025, there’s an important visa update you must know.
From mid-July onward, the UK government will no longer issue visa vignettes (stickers) inside passports for most student visa applicants. Instead, students will receive a new digital eVisa a secure online record of your UK immigration status.
What Is Changing?
Old Process (Before July 2025):
You applied, gave biometrics, and then received a visa vignette (sticker) inside your passport to travel.
New Process (After July 2025):
You will now get only a digital eVisa. Your passport will not have a visa sticker. You’ll access your visa through your UKVI online account.
This applies to:
- Out-of-country students granted entry clearance (except visit visas)
- Students applying from Nepal, India, and other countries outside the UK
This does not apply to:
- Dependent family members
- Students on visit visas (they will still receive a visa sticker)
Why This Update Matters
- Faster process: No more waiting days for passport return—your passport will be scanned and returned within 3 hours.
- More secure: Your visa is stored online and linked to your UKVI account.
- Easier travel: Less risk of losing your passport with a sticker.
What Do Students Need to Do?
1. Check Your eVisa Carefully
Once you receive your eVisa by email, log into your UKVI account and check all personal details.
If anything is wrong, report it immediately using:

2. Link Your Passport
Make sure your valid passport is linked to your UKVI account—especially if you’ve renewed your passport recently.
3. Keep Contact Details Updated
Update any changes to your phone number or email in your UKVI account before you travel.
4. No UKVI Account Yet?
Follow the instructions in your UK visa decision letter to create your UKVI account.
What If There’s an Error in Your eVisa?
If there are mistakes (name, date of birth, passport number, etc.), you must report them before you travel to avoid problems at UK immigration.
What Happens at the Visa Application Centre (VAC)?
- Students will still attend VAC once to give biometrics.
- Your passport will be scanned and returned within 3 hours.
- No visa sticker will be added.
