PTE 2025 Updates: What Nepali Students Must Know Before Booking Their Test

Jul 22, 2025 | PTE Academic, Test Preparation

🇳🇵 What’s New in PTE 2025?

Pearson’s PTE Academic test is evolving in 2025 with exciting updates designed to better reflect real-life communication and improve the testing experience for international students especially those from Nepal.

1. Two New Question Types from August 7, 2025

Starting August 7, 2025, two brand-new speaking question types will be included in the Speaking & Writing section:

Summarize Group Discussion

You’ll hear a short conversation with multiple speakers. Your task? Summarize the main points clearly and naturally in your own words.

Respond to a Situation

You’ll be given a real-world scenario (e.g. missed a class, requesting help) and must record a spoken reply, just like how you’d handle it in daily life.

These additions aim to test practical communication — not just grammar or accent.

2. Updated Test Duration – Now ~2 Hours 15 Minutes

Contrary to earlier reports of a 1 hr 55 min format, the final PTE Academic test (with the two new tasks) will now take approximately:

🕒 2 hours and 15 minutes

Still much shorter than the old 3-hour version, but slightly longer than the pilot version due to the added question types.

Same Scoring – Still Smart, Still AI-Based

Despite these updates, PTE still uses its trusted AI-based scoring system, offering:

  • Fair and fast evaluation
  • No human bias
  • Consistent scoring across test centers

More Acceptance Than Ever

In 2025, PTE is now officially accepted by:

Australia (student visa, work, and PR)
Canada – including PTE Core for SDS applications
UK (Student and Skilled Worker visas)
New Zealand (universities + immigration)
3,500+ institutions globally

Why Nepali Students Prefer PTE in 2025

  • Fully computer-based – No face-to-face speaking
  • Easy prep options – Mock tests, online tools, mobile apps
  • Available in Nepal: Regular test dates in Kathmandu, Pokhara & Chitwan
  • Perfect for introverts or those nervous in live interviews
